Ford Tri-Motor wraps up Dayton flights

June 29, 2008: The Experimental Aircraft Association's antique Ford Tri-Motor airliner wrapped up its visit to Dayton Wright Brothers Airport on Sunday. Passengers eager to pay $50 to fly in the historic "Tin Goose" kept volunteer pilots Colin Soucy and Tom Leahy busy from Thursday through Sunday. They were supported by an EAA Museum team and members of EAA Chapter 48 in Moraine. The Ford's next stop is Port Clinton, where Island Airlines once operated a small fleet of Tri-Motors. I posted some pictures of the Dayton visit in a photo gallery.

Wee speaks Chinese

January 28, 2008: When I wrote Wee and the Wright Brothers, my goal was to introduce young children to the wonder of flight, the story of the Wright brothers, and Dayton’s aviation heritage. I wanted the world to know that my Ohio hometown is also the place where the Wright brothers invented the airplane, but I never imagined my little picture book would be introducing the Wright brothers to children in Taiwan. Now it is – in their own language. How did this happen? Read more on my blog.
