First Flight anniversary kept Daytonians hopping

8-Wright Memorial w Wreath

Friday, Dec. 15, 2006 — It was a busy day in Dayton, Ohio, for aviation heritage buffs. Wright family members, Air Force and National Park Service officials, and community leaders gathered at the Wright Brothers Memorial on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to observe the 103rd anniversary of powered flight. The Aviation Heritage Foundation and Park Service cut the ribbon on a rehabbed house in the Wright-Dunbar Neighborhood (read my previous blog.) And more than 200 people gathered in the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force for Aviation Trail Inc.'s annual First Flight Anniversary Dinner. See photos from these events in my photo gallery.
